How do I know when full vacuum has been achieved?
What is the moist and dry button for?
Depending on the type of food you’re sealing, the ‘moist’ and ‘dry’ functionality adjusts the seal type — achieving a perfect, airless seal no matter what the bag’s contents. During the vacuum sealing process, liquids can be drawn up, and have a cooling effect on the heat seal. By using the correct seal type (moist or dry), you can extend the seal time to compensate for liquid, creating a secure and reliable seal.
Tip: If you’re vacuum sealing very moist food, like stews and curries, let the bag hang slightly lower than the appliance; you can do this by resting it on an open kitchen draw. This will ensure that only a limited amount of liquid is able to get near the appliance during the sealing process.
What is the Pulse feature?
The PulseVac feature allows the vacuum sealing process to be started and stopped manually, providing greater control over air removal. This is ideal when vacuum sealing delicate or fragile food items, like pastries or crisps. Please be aware, however, that the PulseVac feature is available on selected FoodSaver appliances only.
